Trusted by productions, agencies and brands worldwide.

Real Bears Are Complicated. We Make the Alternative Easier.

TV Bears International specialises in realistic bear costumes, animal doubles and practical creature services for film, television, commercials, documentaries and branded productions.

We are a dedicated specialist team with a very particular area of expertise: putting believable bears and animal characters in front of cameras.

Our work goes far beyond supplying a costume. We provide the animal character, an experienced creature actor and dedicated on-set support as one complete production package.

Whether you need a bear for a single shot, an animal double for pickup scenes or a practical animal character for a complete production, we work with your team to understand the action, camera requirements and practical challenges before we arrive on set.

Based out of London and Los Angeles, our team supports productions across the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and worldwide.

Built for Film, Television and Commercial Production

Our realistic bear costumes and animal characters are built for cameras, not costume parties. TV Bears International provides production-ready creature suits, animal doubles and practical animal characters for feature films, television, commercials, documentaries, streaming content, music videos and branded productions. A realistic animal costume needs to do more than look impressive in a photograph. It needs to hit a mark, repeat an action, work with camera angles and lighting, interact with actors and props, maintain continuity between takes and remain believable when the camera starts rolling. Our job is to help your production get the shot.

Animal Doubles and Pickup Scenes

You may already have the hero footage. You may simply need the missing shot. TV Bears International provides realistic animal doubles for pickup scenes, inserts, additional photography and controlled interactions where returning to a live animal may be impractical or unnecessary. A paw entering frame. A bear crossing behind an actor. A reaction shot. A controlled interaction with a prop. Additional footage needed weeks or months after principal photography. These smaller moments can be essential to completing a scene. Tell us what is missing. We will help you work out whether one of our bears can complete the scene.

Red Carpet Premieres and Publicity Appearances

A realistic bear can create an unforgettable moment at the right event. TV Bears International provides realistic animal characters for red carpet premieres, publicity appearances, launches, photo calls and brand-led events where visual impact matters. Our team focuses on character integrity, safety, guest interaction and smooth coordination from arrival to wrap. Whether the bear is supporting a film release, campaign launch or one-of-a-kind publicity moment, we help create memorable appearances without compromising the look or quality of the character.

Brand Activations and Commercial Events

TV Bears International provides realistic animal characters for brand activations, corporate events, experiential marketing, trade shows, product launches and promotional campaigns. Our bears can help turn a campaign into a physical, memorable experience that guests, audiences and clients can see, photograph and remember. From controlled guest interactions to carefully managed brand appearances, our goal is to help your brand stand out in a creative, memorable and highly visual way. We support the practical details so the character feels connected to the campaign, the audience experience and the story your brand wants to tell.

Bears That Travel

Our bears are not particularly good at staying home. TV Bears International supports productions across the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and internationally. With operations centred around London and Los Angeles, our team can travel with the animal character, creature actor and required on-set support directly to your production. We have experience supporting international projects and working across different countries, production environments and time zones. If your production needs a realistic bear somewhere unusual, ask us. There is a good chance we can get one there.

Animal Reenactment Scenes and Wildlife Recreations

Not every animal scene needs a live animal, and sometimes using one simply is not practical or appropriate. TV Bears International specialises in realistic animal reenactment scenes and wildlife recreations for film, television, documentaries and factual productions. Our realistic bears and animal doubles can be used to recreate events, portray animal behaviour, capture additional footage or complete pickup scenes in a controlled production environment. We work with production teams to understand the event being recreated, the intended behaviour of the animal and the shots needed to tell the story. Animal doubles can also reduce unnecessary reliance on live animals where repeated takes, difficult environments or specific actions could cause avoidable stress.

More Than a Costume

Why Practical?

Why Practical Effects Still Matter

Practical effects have never disappeared. They have simply kept proving why they matter.

From the creature features, adventure films and fantasy cinema of the 1980s onwards, practical effects have created some of the most memorable screen moments in film history. Audiences still talk about them. Younger fans still discover them. New generations still champion them because there is something special about seeing a real creature, character or effect physically present in the scene.

A practical animal exists in front of the camera.

It catches the light of the set. It casts a real shadow. It gives actors something genuine to react to, and it creates a sense of presence that can be difficult to replace.

There is also something permanent about practical effects. Once captured on film, the moment becomes part of the image forever. It will not be re-rendered, updated or changed years later. It was there on the day, photographed as part of the scene.

That gives practical creature work a lasting quality. A kind of permanent nostalgia.

It feels handmade. It feels physical. It feels alive.

At TV Bears International, we believe practical effects and visual effects work best when they support each other. Our realistic bears can be used entirely in camera or as part of a hybrid practical and VFX workflow, giving productions a physical reference for scale, lighting, movement and interaction.

For many productions, the strongest result comes from using the right combination of practical and digital techniques.

Our job is to help you capture believable practical footage that gives the scene weight, presence and character.

What Productions Say About Working With Us

Our company (Dare Foods Ltd.) worked with Matt and his company on an advertising campaign in the summer of 2023 for our Bear Paws brand and I have nothing but positive things to say about the experience! Matt and his team are talented professionals who have produced incredibly life-like bear suits and the added bonus is that Matt M and his colleague have the capability and experience to act in the suits, which is no easy feat. Our production shoot went exactly as planned and the creative output was business and brand building. We value our partnership with Matt's team and we look forward to doing more work together moving forward.

Matthew and his bear were absolute champions on a hard one day shoot. Everything hinged on him and we never missed a beat. The client was over the moon happy with him and the final product. I hope I am able to bring him back form many more projects.
Michael Sapienza
*Executive Producer* Lowes Foods
Matthew was collaborative, flexible, and extremely helpful on a project I worked with him on - a short film about a bear invading a neighborhood. I'm proud to say that our collaboration has created great success for the film which has been celebrated across the world. Matt's ability to problem solve and troubleshoot is excellent, as is his ability to communicate with his team, who executed our project to the utmost perfection. 10/10 would recommend!

Built By Someone Who Understands The Set

TV Bears International was founded by actor, director and creature specialist Matthew Mason.

Matthew brings more than two decades of television production and acting experience to the company, along with years spent working around realistic animal characters, creature suits and practical effects.

Before launching TV Bears International, Matthew served as CEO of Animatronic Bear Studios Inc., leading an international specialist company that provided realistic animal costumes and practical creature services for productions and clients around the world.

That experience shaped the way TV Bears International works today.

Because a realistic bear is never just a costume.

It has to arrive prepared. It has to work with the schedule, the camera, the space, the crew and the story being told.

On set, small details matter. Timing. Visibility. Heat. Movement. Breaks. Clear communication. Knowing when to step in and when to stay out of the way.

We understand that our animal is only one part of a much larger production, and our job is to help your team capture the shot without adding unnecessary complications.

That is the difference experience makes.

Tell Us About Your Project

Need a bear? Tell us what you are filming, where the production is taking place and what you need the animal to do. You do not need to know which bear is right for the scene. You do not need to understand animatronics or creature suits. And you definitely do not need to know how to explain bear movement in technical terms. That is our job. Send us the scene. Send us the storyboard. Send us a reference image. Or simply tell us what you are trying to achieve. We will help you work out the rest.
